Browser Extension

The Cloaked browser extension lets you use a Cloaked address with Ethereum apps that support browser wallets. It also keeps the Cloaked wallet available from your browser without requiring a separate app tab.

Why Cloaked is different

A conventional browser wallet often reuses one long-lived address across many apps. Each connection can reveal the balance, history, and other activity already associated with that address. Creating more wallet accounts can reduce that exposure, but it also leaves you managing more addresses and moving funds between them yourself.

Cloaked treats an app connection as a privacy decision: which part of your onchain life should this app be allowed to see?

When you connect, you can choose a fresh self-custodial address or deliberately reuse an existing one. Cloaked can fund a fresh address from your Cloaked balances and keep your addresses together in one wallet view. The app receives the address you selected, not every address managed by your Cloaked account.

How the fresh address is funded matters. Moving funds from a visible address can create a public link between the two addresses. Funding it from an Incognito balance uses a Privacy Pools withdrawal, which breaks the direct public onchain link between the earlier deposit and the fresh address. To public blockchain observers, the new address does not arrive with your old wallet history attached.

This provides meaningful public-facing onchain privacy, but it is not unconditional anonymity. The app still sees the connected address, other information such as an app login or browser session may identify you, and later onchain activity can create new links. Cloaked can also see activity it coordinates.

You remain in control throughout. Connecting does not give an app permission to spend, and every signature or transaction still requires a separate review and approval.

What the extension does

The extension lets you:

  • choose Cloaked from an app's wallet picker;
  • connect a fresh or existing Cloaked address;
  • review and approve message signatures and transactions;
  • see which address and network the active app is using; and
  • open your Cloaked wallet from the Chrome toolbar.

Connecting an address lets the app see that address and send wallet requests to Cloaked. It does not let the app spend your funds without a separate approval.

Opening Cloaked

After installing the extension, pin Cloaked from Chrome's Extensions menu for easy access. Click the Cloaked icon to open your wallet.

The extension opens in the browser side panel by default. Use the display button in Cloaked to move between:

  • Panel — keep Cloaked beside the current browser tab;
  • Window — open Cloaked in a separate compact window;
  • Toolbar — use Cloaked from the toolbar popup; or
  • Open app — open the full Cloaked web app in a tab.

Your chosen display mode is remembered on that device.
